As we all know funding is challenging these days for non profits but not only that funding has changed over the years. There are funding sources that require the organization to follow what the grantor feels are the appropriate ways to address community service. Some require all the directors to have advanced degrees and some simply won't give you enough to make the impact needed. I miss the days when the experts in the community were listened to and given the support to make the impact needed.
Many non profits operate some sort of revenue making operation and Milkweed Market is the only source of funding that Twelve Prairies has currently. Milkweed Market is grateful to the for profits that have donated items for resale at our store front. All of the revenue helps us operate the store and provide funding to the initiatives Twelve Prairies has programmed for the coming year.
The Milkweed plant is an incredible plant and important to our community. It is native to our local communities and it belongs here and we believe everything native should remain here. As a charitable operation for Twelve Prairies it continues our theme of honoring our past, understanding our present, and preparing for our future.
Recycling, sustainability, zero waste, up-cycling, these are all things important to Twelve Prairies as is peace, honoring our elders, and nurturing our youth.
Through the joint efforts of Twelve Prairies and Milkweed Market we can create an impact in our communities by providing an example of what can be done with the Will of "I CAN."
